Dear world,
Your life is on hold and mine is too. It’s like we’re living in one of those “social experiments”, the one where they tell to pick 10 things you feel you need the most and live alone for the next week, well, in this case it’s until further notice and the whole world was given the opportunity at this “social experiment!” Your wedding, baby shower, commencement ceremony, honeymoon, birthday party, schooling, banquets, cruise, mission trip, sports season, all canceled or postponed until who knows when.
You want some normalcy just like I do but you’ll have to do a lot of digging around to find it. During this time we have not seen a lot of our usual. Its a different time and place for everyone. If you work in an essential business your probably in a stable place, picking up more hours and continuing to earn a steady paycheck. If you work in a non essential business your sitting in a different seat, a more non stable position, your hours have been cut and maybe you’ve been laid off. I too sit in the non stable chair, I will not receive any hours from both of my jobs until further notice. It’s a hard place to be and I’m very fortunate that I have two incredible parents who will continue to support me, but i grieve and pray for those of you who are not in the same place as me, it’s not the world it use to be, but this to shall pass! Easter is this coming weekend, how will the “Easter Bunny” come to the house when he’s supposed to be quarantined? Will Easter be postponed and children told the Easter Bunny will come after this Safer at Home Order is lifted? How will children react? This is a different time for all, we will all be grieving over different things at different times through all of this, but most importantly we will all be in this together!
Finally, my heart goes out to all you who are or have a family member who is affected by Coronavirus. I wish there was something we could do or say that would make this all better and reverse everything, but at this time there isn’t. We will come together from our own homes and pray with you, grieve with you, and most importantly be there for you! Weather you’ve canceled your wedding, lost your job, caught the Covid-19, or have some other type of hardship, we’re in this together and we understand. We will get through this together, as one.
Sincerely,
A High School Senior
